DVDs Frequently Asked Questions

scroll down

Q: After I install the DVDs nothing works.  I can click on the images but nothing happens.

A: It is possible that you have Windows set up to open web pages (.htm or .html files) with a program other than a web browser.  You need to change Windows to open web pages with a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Mozilla Firefox.  You can do this under My Computer | Tools | Folder Options | File Types, then scroll down to .HTM and .HTML and change the Opens with: program for both of them.  Then click OK.

Q: The shortcut was not installed automatically.  How do I install it manually?

A: Open up Windows Explorer and navigate to x:\HWA Searchable Library\index.html , where x is the drive where you installed the DVDs.  Right-click on index.html and drag it onto your desktop (you may have to make the Windows Explorer window smaller so you can see the desktop).  When the box comes up, click Create Shortcut(s) Here.

Q: Can you please tell me if it is possible to use the DVDs on my laptop without having to install them? I have only got a 40GB HDD, and some of this is already in use.

A: No it is not possible, but as an alternative to installing them on your hard drive, you can buy a USB external hard drive and install the DVDs on that.  Then just plug the external hard drive into your laptop whenever you want to use the Searchable Library.
